Certificate of non-impediment to marry (Legal Capacity Certificate)

The celebration of a marriage in the Philippines is under the competence of the Filipino authorities since you cannot marry at the Embassy. Kindly ask the assistance of your future spouse to inquire at the local municipality or church where the marriage will take place for information regarding their required documents.

From the Embassy, the Belgian national will need to obtain what is locally called a Legal Capacity Certificate (LCC).

It is compulsory to make an appointment. No certificate will be delivered to couples showing up spontaneously at the Embassy. Please note that we are easily fully booked 3 months in advance.

Once the appointment is confirmed, you will come to the Embassy together with your future spouse for an interview with the Consul. The Legal Capacity Certificate will be issued on the same day if the file is complete and all conditions fulfilled.

The Embassy issues the certificate in one of the national languages of Belgium (French, Dutch or German) which you have to choose.

After the marriage, do not forget to register it as soon as possible.
